Christmas Gifts!
Big additions to the wine and gold
Over the Christmas break Cleveland were busy adding to our young core and transforming this overperforming rebuild into a genuine playoff push. We said goodbye to a favorite son in last seasons MIP Bogdan Bogdanovic and newest addition Evan Fournier. Both guys were pivotal in the teams early performance however when you see an opportunity to upgrade you take it without thinking twice. Both guys had peaked and you knew what you'd get from them. We wish all Cavs players that have moved on all the best going forward. Now to the new guys.
Outgoing: Bogdan Bogdanovic, Tomas Satoransky, PJ Dozier and Sac 22 1st rounder
Incoming: Andrew Wiggins, Malik Monk, Tor 23 2nd
We welcome Andrew Wiggins *Maple Jordan* to Cleveland with a lot of excitement. Wiggins was a target of ours since he was first traded to the Warriors as the potential he had mixed with the Warriors development system we knew he would be a big improver. Trying multiple times with his former teams a deal was never struck. We reached out to the rebuilding Lakers who needed to gain some assets for him and we were able to strike a deal. Wiggins at only 26 is having a career year in the NBA shooting 48/42 on 14 FGA and is top 5 defensively in the SF position, he is considered a borderline all star player this season and being in Golden State the fans may just get him there. We look forward to seeing Andrews growth over the next few years.
Malik Monk was more of an afterthought, I saw a lack in a 6th man scorer in our bench unit, we are already deep and a strong bench unit but no true scorer. Malik will fit with our bench unit perfectly and can fill in starting minutes at the SG, SF position.
Outgoing: Evan Fournier, Markelle Fultz, Det 23 1st, Phx 25 1st, Cle 26 1st
Incoming: C.J. McCollum
Boy were we excited for this, gentleman Pete reached out to the league welcoming Malcolm Brogdon offers. We jumped into his messages and managed to peak Pistols interest in a trade for CJ instead. Pistol wanted more depth, the 1sts are nice cherries. It was a win win trade. CJ an Ohio local will be a massive in for us, prior to start of the season injuries he was having a career year and is an efficient constant 26-30ppg player in the NSL. We finally got us a true 1st option scorer locked in for multiple years, CJ will bring real leadership to the young core of upcoming stars in Cleveland and genuinely believe if he can come back in time and team health (Knock on wood) we will push into that playoff picture comfortably.
