Rookies....
The Land Chronicle
A look at our rooks
Backlash from fans has been answered as recent draft acquisition Davion Mitchell has been informed by Cleveland management that he will be sent down to the G League. Davion who has been on limited minutes since the start of the season has been a black hole that gives nothing back. In 7.4mpg across 10 games the rookie guard has put up 61 shots for 23/21/63 splits. This is nothing new from 2k though as they always seem to suck at the creation of rookies, especially guards. Davion's shooting, touches tendencies are so high whenever he is on the court all the shots and touches are for him. He's dished out a lackluster 0.6apg and 0.3spg. Granted we have only given him 7mpg he's spent 82% of those minutes throwing up a shot which is absolute pig territory. We spoke to GM Dylan on Davion's slow start - "It's not what you want out of your top pick but we are going to allow Davion time to grow and mature as a player, he's still fresh and getting used to the pace of the game and the quality of the defenders. We trust in him to work on his inefficiencies in the G league".
In other rookie news, 2 way undrafted rookie Marcus Garrett will get the call up to fill Davion's minutes. The 6'5 PG with a 6'10 wingspan out of Kansas will rejoin the Cavaliers after putting up 14.3 points on 44.9 percent shooting from the field and 4-of-12 (33.3 percent) shooting on threes, 9.3 rebounds and 6.5 assists with 2.8 steals in his first four games in the G League. Cleveland GM Dylan on Garrett - "Marcus has been a talent we have kept an eye on for a while a Naismith DPOY in his junior year and a final 4 finalist in his senior year Marcus has the potential to be a great 2 way rotational player and potential starter, we're excited to see what he can do." Marcus impressed Cleveland scouts in the Summer League putting up averages of 22 points, 11.2 rebounds and 2.4 blocks on 50.4% and 36% from 3. He certainly impressed us here at The Land Chronicle. Good luck on your debut Marcus.
