A Reset With Intent
The Los Angeles Clippers didn’t bottom out (ok yes, we did),
We recalibrated the system
In a league where franchises often cling to aging cores and
nostalgia, the Clippers go against the grain and maintained what we have always
done and that is patience and it was patience with purpose. The result? an intriguing
young roster in the NSL, anchored by talent that blends size, skill, and
defensive versatility.
Start with VJ Edgecombe, the rookie whose energy and
competitive fire is ready to reshape the team’s identity. Edgecombe’s elite athletic
ability and defensive instincts translate immediately, and the offensive upside
is real with an eye popping 34-point debut in the NSL feeder league. Los
Angeles believes he is a franchise cornerstone — not in three years, but potentially
right now.
But Edgecombe isn’t walking into this alone.
Paolo Banchero the Clipper draft pick 3 seasons back
brings the size and playmaking profile franchises rarely get without a
max-contract attached. Jalen Williams continues to develop into one of
the league’s most well-rounded wings — equal parts scorer, facilitator, and
defender.
That’s your core.
That’s your direction.
Around them, the Clippers have assembled a roster with
balance and purpose:
- Trey Murphy III, already established as one of the league’s elite young shooters, provides spacing and vertical pop. He isn’t a luxury piece — he’s a foundational floor-raiser.
- Isaiah
Hartenstein Joined the team during last year’s free agency as a much-needed
defensive anchor the Clippers franchise has been missing for years.
- Cason
Wallace headlines the perimeter defence, bringing point-of-attack
toughness and poise well beyond his age.
- Keyonte
George acquired last season brings dynamic shot-creation and bench
scoring with the confidence and range to swing quarters — if not entire
games.
- Ron
Holland a swiss army knife on the court who can affect the game in
many ways particularly on the defensive end, he just doesn’t quit. With a
developing offensive skillset Ron is one to watch in the future
- John
Collins a human pogo stick that can detonate on anyone at any given
moment, John has developed into more of a stretch 4 that compliments the
Clippers skillset
Put it together and you don’t see a rebuild.
You see a blueprint.
Size on the wing.
Switchability across positions.
Depth, shooting, rim protection, creation, youth, and energy.
There will be growing pains every young team experiences
them. But the Clippers have something rare in today’s NSL: a long-term vision
supported by a roster that fits, complements, and competes.
We won’t be top of the tree out west, but the direction is there,
and it equals an exciting era for Clipper’s basketball
They may have stumbled into a future-facing core with
multiple pathways to contention.
And we did it without tearing down the team’s identity we
simply redefined it.
The Western Conference might not be worried today, but hopefully
they’ve taken notice.
