Knicks Update
A roller coaster start to the new NSL season has left many wondering what the Knicks franchise are doing for the now, and into the future. The Team, although somewhat competitive are likely on a down year, and the GM hasn’t been seen at the facility or on game day once this season.
The roster has undergone some significant changes since the end of last season, with the team being able to zero in on the plan being for the future and not the now. The team currently sit with a 3-8 record but feel they have been competitive in parts throughout the opening weeks of the season.
Josh Giddey, although playing in a sixth man role, leads the team in scoring so far this season. Giddey is averaging 20.5ppg, 6.1rpg, 3apg in 25mins of action per night. The Problem for the Knicks at the moment is that Giddey is refusing to play his natural position at the point guard.
"We just can’t talk him into it yet." Coach Thibs said. "We are trying to ease him into the role, but he insists he is happy to play at the 2 spot in a sixth man role, talk about strange."
Smokey has been on the mind of Knicks fans lately too. The Long time GM hasn’t been spotted at practice, or any game so far this season. There is some belief that Smokey has lost the passion and drive to run the Knicks franchise and has already checked out. Until there is word from the GM himself, we will all just sit and ponder what might be going on.
On the trade front, there has been no secret that the Knicks are looking to build. The team have been open about what that looks like, and who they want to build the team around. Devin Vassell has been tipped as the likely piece that the Knicks will be shopping as the team look to move forward with RJ Barrett, Josh Giddey and Jaden McDaniels.
The Knicks have always been tipped to be a seller this year, and with plenty of talented players to help push contending teams up, it’s just a matter of when.
