Minnesota Timberwolves

The Season So Far

The Season So far

The Minnesota Timberwolves entered this season full of hope and big aspirations.  We had made the move to bring in a second superstar in Anthony Davis, we filled the roster out reasonably well in FA and we had our other key players locked in ready to contribute ( Kevon Looney most notably).  To date the Wolves have been brilliant so far this season, jostling for the #1 seed in the west with the Los Angeles Lakers.

As of right now, the Timberwolves have only lost 2 games this season when both of the superstars are on the court.  One of which was a complete blunder by the GM forgetting to set defensive match ups for the game, inexcusable.  However, if you have followed along this year, Gm Ethan has had multiple blunders at the controls early in the season, which is leaving Timberwolves fans and players with some concern.   It is an extremely exciting prospect however, that Minny have only dropped 2 games when both superstars play, assuming healthy fans and players should feel confident about making a deep playoff run this season.

Reinforcements

Timberwolves Acquire Wing Stopper via Trade.

Wolves Receive: Dorian Finney-Smith
Wolves Send: DeAnthony Melton, Kira Lewis Jr

Gm Ethan took a look around the league and noticed that other teams int he west were loading up and decided something needed to be done.  With the acquisition of Dorian, we have another big wing we can throw at opposition forwards to give them a different look and potentially free up Jimmy Butler or Anthony Davis for other defensive match-ups.  Finney-Smith isn't a liability on offence either, he can shoot the 3 ball at a respectable clip and will get plenty of open looks in our offence.

Wolves Receive: Cameron Payne
Wolves Send: Torrey Craig

This trade was more made out of positional need over any other reason.  The Timberwolves sent out two Point Guards in the Dorian Finney-Smith trade, additionally, Jordan Goodwin was also waived, leaving our guard rotation quite short.  We are excited to have Cameron come off the bench and help stabilise our bench unit.

The Timberwolves have title aspiration for this year and will continue to remain aggressive in their approach to achieving the ultimate goal.
