Free Agency!

Another Free Agency period, another half a roster fill out Rinse and repeat for the Sacramento Kings as the 22-23 NSL season is upon us. Its been a busy off season for the Kings as the team has again been almost completely overhauled. Buddy, Vuce, Anderson and Richards being the only players still remaining from last seasons team.

The move to reacquire Plumdog for Crowder was indeed a risky move, wings are king in the NSL and with Anderson still needing to be retained we were very confident in this being the case but a lot definitely couldve gone wrong. The way we saw it though was serviceable bigs were far less common in this FA class when compared to the handful of solid available wings/guards. This bored out to be true as all of the big name big men copped some record breaking point bids.

In the end the Kings brought in the likes of Anderson/Ingles/Troy Brown/Watanabe/Okogie/Jones/Ryan/McGruder. Ingles was a pleasant surprise and came early in the day, a cheeky 15 point big secured him and although he is still injured by all accounts he will be back and available when it matters most. It couldve all gone belly up when Montrez Harrell dropped and the decision was made to put down a hefty chuck of points on him assuming other big man targets would be more sort after. We couldnt of been more wrong as seemingly half the league bet on him. Now all of a sudden the GM point cupboard seemed a little bare and the prospect of retaining Anderson wasnt as much of a sure thing as it was before.

A collective sigh of relief drew out as Pistol read out the outcome of the bid for Anderson when he eventually dropped. Meaning we could then focus on filling out the remaining spots with some savy veteran presence. All in all a success for the Kings, probably one of our better FA periods and we look forward to another season of the NSL, the league we all love.
