Portland (hates) FA
Portland FA Recap
Yes, yes. We are disgruntled. We never feel that free agency is successful to a standard we are accepting of. Random factor always sucks for us. Seem to consistently miss out on winning bids by comical fractions of a point.
So, we changed it up. I admire the teams that run the gauntlet on free agency day, with half their roster bare, and leave with a grin on their faces. I left the last two free agencies before this year, being 2 or 3 players short of a LEGAL ROSTER. This is coming off 68 win and 78 win seasons. It didnt add up, and I was done with it.
Portland worked hard to add the depth throughout a very busy off-season of trading. Looking at the roster, nothing appears glamourous outside of the two big stars who reside at the centre of it all. However, many of them are veterans, with some underrated 2k ability or size, who should provide complementary impact to the key Portland stakeholders.
You have to make peace with the fact you are going to miss out on targets, experience a lack of luck, and acknowledge the wins even if they feel like ties, after spending 99 gms as the solo-bidder.
But Portland retained James Harden. After all the jabs and murmours, not one other team bid on James Harden. The best player in the free agency class, had eyes only for Portland. Critical signing, obviously. If he left, their might be a new GM.

Andre Drummond, one of the best value-for-money players in the entire league, and a champion from Portlands team last season, wanted back in. Drummond, the centre of much forum jibes and wonderings to try and rattle the Portland Front Office, received only two serious bidders for his services.
Luke Kornet, a journeyman centre, played minutes in the Finals last season and was brought back as depth.
Markieff Morris, a handy veteran with offensive skill, was merely the 1/25 minimum bids that stuck.
Gee, FA is tough!
Bring on the season!
