Plan of Attack/Defense
With just a few weeks until free agency, and four months passed since the Trailblazers won the 2021 NSL title, a lot has changed.
An almost-new roster, a new strategy and a revised vision of performance goals for the Portland organistion.
Portland, according to sources, has been offering value trade offers to teams in the pursuit of condensing, achieving one last upgrade. Multiple players and first round picks have been combined in generous offers, but the market has gone cold. Ice cold.
The team will now turn its sights to free agency, where the team has critical, albeit few, posts to fill.
Portland has 12 guaranteed contracts, with James Harden, Andre Drummond, Isaiah Hartenstein and Luke Kornet having entered free agency (albeit having expressed a desire to play for the Trailblazers). The guaranteed roster is as follows:
PG: Josh Richardson, Patrick Beverley, Daishen Nix
SG: Kevin Durant, Cameron Reddish, Terry Taylor
SF: LeBron James, Stanley Johnson
PF: Robert Covington, Nerlens Noel
C: Alex Len, Luke Kornet
As is observable above, the team has depth and an even spread of positional players. With free agency looming, do Portland look to bring back the incumbents, or look in other areas?
Likely free agent targets: Andre Drummond, Goran Dragic, Deandre Jordan, Montrezl Harrell, T.J. Warren

Armed with 150 gms, coming off a 68 win season, Portland will be armed and aimed to leave free agency with two key contributors, to complete the roster that is looking to repeat as Champions of the NSL.
Andre Drummond, beloved player to the fans and integral part of last seasons championship run, looms as the likely no.1 target for Portland. It has been rumoured that he has been promised the starting job, a multi-year deal and he has history with the team.
