Wild, Wild West
Wild, Wild West
The Portland Trailblazers will begin the season as defending champions of the NSL Crown.
However, when you are living in the Wild, Wild Western Conference, nothing is assured.
In 2022-2023, the race to the top of the West looks as treacherous and difficult as it ever has.
The San Antonio Spurs somehow got younger and arguably better sigh. With Giannis at the Alamo, the window for the Spurs to win more titles has extended threefold. They have to round out the roster, but the rebuild lasted all of 7 minutes and the competitive fire never left. Better.
The Minnesota Timberwolves added Brandon Ingram for an underperforming Siakam and look set to progress again. The team boasts a line-up of five players rated in the mid-80s, including Jrue Holiday and young stars Lamelo Ball and Scottie Barnes. Better.
The Memphis Grizzlies have their core intact, with natural progression a given as well as a year of chemistry. Rootsey is slowly and meticulously building towards the pinnacle, with the Grizzlies the toughest opponents to the Blazers last playoffs. Better.
The New Orleans Pelicans will be better, undoubtedly, by adding Paul George and Wendell Carter to an already bursting-at-the-seams talented team. Morant, Collins and the young supporting cast will all naturally improve. Better.
The Denver Nuggets finally have a healthy team, with Klay Thompson and Michael Porter Jr slated to begin the season healthy with a full pre-season behind them. Serge Ibaka wants to stick around and the Nuggets will also have natural growth. Better.
The Houston Rockets, the steadiest team in the league, will do what the Rockets do win 50 games, fight hard in a playoff series. However, can their natural growth with Jokic, Haliburton and Maxey allow them to dream bigger? Better.
Who wants the last spot? The Golden State Warriors will have to fend off the Los Angeles Lakers, Sacramento Kings in the play-in, with all three squads looking dangerous enough to ruffle feathers.
Wild, Wild West!
