ROOKIE OF THE WEEK WATCH - Week 4
PLAYER | TEAM | WHY | STATS | |
---|---|---|---|---|
PER 14.35 | Eastern 0-4 | New York are running deep and this weeks surprise packet in limited minutes was Isaac Jones who managed in 13 minutes, 3 points, 4 rebounds and an assist with a smattering of defensive stats on a fantastic 75% from the field. Clearly an outsider for this award this week, it's nice to see kids get a run and get some numbers to their name as they make a place for themselves in the league. | 3.3 PTS 4.3 REB 1.3 AST 0.5 STL 0.8 BLK | |
PER 13.84 | Eastern 1-3 | Sarr was back at the starters role this week but he showed his raw talent level still for the Hawks. He managed only 8.5 points and 4 rebounds, all be it with a nice 3 assists, 1 steal and 2 blocks per game in his 31 minutes and this probably won't be enough to sway the voters for the award. The defensive potential is tantelising as hell though and the Hawks have time to wait. | 8.5 PTS 4.3 REB 3.5 AST 1.0 STL 2.0 BLK | |
PER 22.12 | Eastern 1-3 | Mitchell has been balling out off the 76er bench these past 3 weeks with Clarkson missing time and the need for a scorer. Last week was no exception dropping 12.5 points in 19 minutes with 3 rebounds and 3 assists on 40/33/100 splits, which is great from a 2way guy. He's expected to be converted eventually and the 76ers will be ready. Can he beat Zach this week for this award? | 12.5 PTS 3.0 REB 2.8 AST 0.0 STL 0.0 BLK | |
PER 13.62 | Eastern 1-3 | With Porzingis still a week away, Rob Williams out and Precious still a week away too, Mogbo drew another starting week for Philly. He looks like he'll eventually have a Draymond like skillset which is nice, with Draymond on the team and getting older, and this week he put up 7 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists with 1.5 steals a game, all be it in starters minutes (31) with not great splits of 42/21/75. He's got some work to do, but he definitely on the path of a nice role playing career. | 6.5 PTS 8.5 REB 4.0 AST 1.5 STL 0.3 BLK | |
PER 24.33 | Eastern 2-2 | has Zach finally found a role in this Indiana team, or is it a product of having no bench scoring from Scoot? Regardless, he put up a nice week 4 off the bench where he averaged nearly 12 points a game in 17 minutes, with 3 rebounds and 1 assist, 1 steal and 1 block on a nice efficient 49/44/63 splits. This is a nice step in the right direction for the #2 overall pick and maybe he gets an award to his name? | 11.8 PTS 2.8 REB 0.8 AST 0.8 STL 0.8 BLK | |
PER 10.07 | Western 2-3 | Jones continues to fill in for the Kings as the "below 14 players" fines keep rolling in, and the fact he's listed here shows how few rookies there are playing time in the West. He put up 2 points and a rebound with an assist and a steal on 31% shooting in 13 minutes. Yep, that's it. | 2.2 PTS 1.2 REB 0.8 AST 0.8 STL 0.0 BLK | |
PER 22.79 | Western 1-3 | Bub continues to get minutes in Phoenix and he continues to put up bench numbers that look nice. This week he was efficient too with 49/53/78 splits which really helped his season numbers come up a bit to look more reliable. nearly 14 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists a game from your reserve PG is great and if he can keep this efficiency, then Laddas might not need to seek out that veteran PG he has been looking for. | 13.5 PTS 2.8 REB 3.0 AST 0.3 STL 0.0 BLK | |
PER 12.91 | Western 1-3 | Holland has been playing sparingly so far this year, but he got 20 minutes a night this past week. Unfortunately, it didn't see a huge bump in production to rival Bub, but it's a step in the process. 7 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists on 43/20/50 splits shows he has a fair amount of work to do, given the inefficiency on top of the low numbers, but this is where we start. | 7.3 PTS 4.3 REB 1.5 AST 0.5 STL 0.3 BLK | |
PER 6.79 | Western 1-3 | This week the Clippers needed to run deeper than usual and Liam Robbins was the beneficiary to see his name nominated here. He played 17 minutes off the bench but still only saw 1.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and a smattering of other stats. The team has a bevvy of talented youngsters and they hopefully won't need to bat this deep too often. | 1.5 PTS 4.5 REB 0.5 AST 0.5 STL 0.5 BLK | |
PER 11.45 | Western 1-3 | Castle continues to get burn in Memphis, this week starting again for 29 minutes a game, but the numbers remain right about in line with his season numbers of 8 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists with a steal and a block. The efficiency still isn't there with 41/36/60 and his rookie season isn't going quite as well as he might have hoped to date, and Memphis may have needed. He'll get there though down the stretch. | 8.3 PTS 2.3 REB 2.0 AST 0.8 STL 0.8 BLK |
