NSL Insider - Premium: GM of the Year Updateby jessedunne, updated on Friday, February 26 2021, 11:27 am EST As we hit Week 6. We can start to see trends developing and we can garner an idea of how the season will progress. 5 weeks is 25% of the season and a large enough sample size to make some predictions for GM of the year. In the Style of IMDB. Let us start in the powerhouse division. The east. No shame in being below .500 in this post-apocalyptic fight for your life part of the world. The Craigshank Redemption. IMDB Rating – 8.9 Craig is back among us. He returned to the fold with a bang. Making a trade or two that raised eyebrows. But you cannot deny he has turned this team around. They are sitting a top of the East. They recently went further all in with a deal sending out Wiseman. The guy he brought in are playing well in the NBA but might not be 2K needle movers yet. We will see. Either way, Craig has a real case for GM of the year if The Hornets can keep this up. For Craigs sake, I hope his season doesn’t end in crawling through five-hundred yards of shit smelling foulness Morgan Freeman couldn’t even imagine. Lock Stock and Two Smokey Barrels IMDB Rating – 8.4 I have not seen this movie in a while, but it is a classic. Has to do with Poker and hustling. Like how Smokey hustled me out of Vucevic who the best Centre of all time at the moment. In all seriousness, some shrewd moves in the offseason have taken the Knicks from the doldrums of the East to a legit contender. All the pieces were added cleverly around Fox and Smokey now has a legit title contending side. They are on a 3-game losing streak as I write this, but the still sit in 4th place. A huge turn around from sitting in second last place and winning only 23 games. The odds of this turn around would have been astronomical at the end of last year. I'd rather put my money on a three-legged rocking horse. The odds are a hundred to one for a good reason, Bacon. It won't win! Magic Gav IMDB Rating 6.1 Gav has always considered himself a bit of a Channing Tatum look alike and is always keen to get his shirt off without invitation. The Magic have been continually active over the past year. Making lots of different moves all in the hope of making a playoff run this year and they are currently making a great first of it. On the Back of Trae Young, The Magic sit only 2 games off top spot in the east. Gav loves the attention too. He might even let you touch him if you are lucky. “Fact is, the law says you cannot touch! But I think I see a lotta lawbreakers up in this house tonight” The magic are too hot to handle at the moment and are looking to make some noise come Playoffs. No we turn our attention to the West. Die Harden IMDB 8.2 It is all action at the Blazers. Not resting on winning the first ever NSL Title. They went out and added Russ to the mix. He has been coming off the bench if you can believe it and doing a masterful job. This team is honestly unbeatable. Harden is still Joel’s guy though. They are currently on a 17 game win streak and are hunting down their own record from last year, which I think is about 200 wins in a row. Joel is the ultimate alpha of the league and has everyone right where he wants them. And as Holly says “Only Joel can drive somebody that crazy” Karl Anthony-Chinatowns IMDB Rating 7.2 I have never seen Chinatown. But I do not like nelson, so I do not plan on putting much effort into this one. But Nel’s wins every trade he makes, and he just keeps improving. Is he the biggest threat to Joel winning every game? Potentially yes. Nelson is also stupid and is one rush of blood to the head away from doing a trade that ruins it all. Which I really hope he does. Towns, Butler, Jrue is an amazing trio. Are they going to drop off? “Forget it, Jake, it's Chinatown” Leeroy: The Professional IMDB Rating 8.5 You cannot mention GM’s of the year without Mentioning Leeroy. Perhaps like Natalie Portman in the movie of a similar name, Leeroy and Smokey were adopted by some sort of 2k Mastermind and been taught the craft of General Managing. Because the turnaround from both has been unbelievable. Leeroy is on track to win double the games he did last season. They are just kneecapping everyone they play now and are on a 13-game win streak themselves. A fun team to watch, they will cause some issues for anyone the face with a great mix of young talent and experienced vets. “Is beating Portland always this hard, or just in the regulars season. Always like this” Honorable mentions to LJ and Josh V who have their teams purring along nicely. But why would I do more writing if I do not get GMs for it. Hope you enjoyed and good luck to all GM’s for the rest of the year! |
