Team Awards

From the beginning, there weren't very high expectations for the team this season, and it has largely played out how management expected; very badly. With that said, there have been a few bright spots to come out of the season, so it's time to think positive and praise the players who have stood out with their performances this year.

MVP and Most Improved:
Coby White
White has had a resurgence this year after beginning the season looking like he was not suited for a primary ball-handling role. He averaged close to 15/5/4 on almost 50/50/90 shooting while starting (to this point) every single game this season, being the only full time starter to do so. As they say, the best ability is availability. He is on a further 11x2 contract which is incredibly valuable, so the team will be looking hard at how to best utilize him with the newer arrivals of Immanuel Quickley and draft pick Brandin Podziemski.

Defensive player and Rookie:
Brandin Podziemski
Pod started the season on the bench as per usual for a mid round rookie, but then exploded onto the scene and carved his way into the rotation with solid all around play. He was only a -3.4 +/- on the season (which given the rest of the roster, is admirable), while being the only rookie on the team to have an above-15 PER in meaningful sample size.

Best new acquisition:
Immannuel Quickley
Quickley came over in a deal where the Hawks sent out Nembhard, Aldama, and a 1st, and he was electric almost immediately. A team high 18 PPG, with almost 6 APG, and some of that time was spent at the 2 and not the 1. He and White exchanged ball-handling duties regularly. If he had been with the team from the start he'd honestly probably be the team MVP, but he's certainly given the FO a lot to think about the guard rotation next season.

Most professional:
Tobias Harris
Harris was acquired as salary filler in the deal that shipped off Dame, and it was understood that he likely wouldn't be long for Atlanta. Despite being in lame duck status the entire year, he never complained, and was a tremendous mentor to the plethora of young guys on the team. He was very reliable on the court too, 16/6/3 on good shooting splits while starting close to 70 games, he was one of the more available players on the team this season. We don't know where Harris will be next season, who knows he could return here, but wherever he goes, hat's off to you Harris. We wouldn't trade you for a crumbl cookie.
