Paul & George

Paul & George

With the pillars of contending torn down, and the landscaped bulldozed, its a chaotic new world in Portland. The ecosystem has reset, with different players occupying the respective niches in the energy chain.

Sitting clear atop of that chain are NSL stars Paul George and Chris Paul (yes, his star days are behind him, but hes a Hall of Famer). Paul George is still playing like he is in his prime, capable of taking over a game on both ends of the court. His counterpart, Chris Paul, is a little less consistent and durable, but still plays like a floor general when he is on the court.

The two stars made their way to Portland just over a week ago, having been charged with the responsibility of leading this fluctuating, young roster through the season, and pay service and respect to a fanbase that is both used to winning and dearly supporting the team.

Both George and Paul, have played a weeks worth of games for the team. Chris played last week, Paul this week.

Across the week, here is how both players fared in their new Portland ecosystem, with more usage and responsibility entrusted with them:

Chris Paul (week 9): 21.5 points @ 42% FG, 6.5 assists, 1.5 steals, 3.5 rebounds per game

Paul George (week 10): 37.3 points @ 52% FG, 5.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 1.3 steals, 3.3 3PM per game

Despite active moving away from buying wins in trades, If these two players continue to perform at this high level, and produce these numbers, Portland can still hope to make the playoffs.

Regardless of whether these storied players end their careers with Portland, or elsewhere, the Front Office and fanbase appear to be united in their gratitude and excitement towards having players of this talent, calibre in the black, red and white.
