Au Revoir, Russell Westbrook
In recent months, Russell Westbrook was traded from the Portland Trailblazers to the Sacramento Kings. Two years earlier, Portland brought in the enigmatic floor general for a swathe of first round picks, Dejounte Murray and Rudy Gay.
In between then and now, Portland won 78/82 regular season games, and failed to win a title. Then, the following season, they went 16-0 and in the playoffs, winning the title. The success of the team could not have been achieved without Russell Westbrook. 100%. Facts.
Not much fanfare was made about the deal, other than Bronx jeers or biased bashing of Westbrook as a player. However, Russell Westbrook was a beloved member of the Portland squad for over two seasons, and he will be missed.
Westbrook, 33, has played at an All-Star calibre for the duration of his NSL career. Drafted at the end of the first round in the inaugural draft, he has Portland-career averages of 22 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists, which is dwarfed by his Lakers season in which he lead the league in scoring at almost 36 points per game, with similar supporting statistics.

His reliable, elite two-way NSL play has been overshadowed by his real-life counterpart, and the relentless pursuit of the NBA media to take his shortcomings and turn them into clickbait media as often as they can.
The 2k games energy is influenced by Russ. He is built with such a density of 2k traits and behaviours and ratings points, that despite losing more overall rating points than any other player last season, he was able to motor on, putting up All-Star numbers the whole season.
Not noted as a defender, he is a great defender in 2k. He makes all of his teammates better as arguably as good as any passer in the 2k game. His athleticism and physicality will always boost him, allowing him to surpass many other guards and any trait/ratings advantages that they may hold over him.
He never misses games, playing in 189/193 games as a Trailblazer.
In closing, as valuable as any part of his package, is how fun he is to watch; some of the best plays I have seen as the Blazers GM feature either Russ as a supporting player or Russ as the main attraction. The dunks, the steals, the flashy passes and the superhuman speed makes him 2k box office.

Thank you, Russell Westbrook. Thank you for making us a success. Portland fans will continue to love you and cheer you on. All the best in Sacramento.
