PLAYER OF THE WEEK WATCH - Week 2

PLAYERTEAMWHYSTATS

Jalen Brunson

PER 30.87

Eastern
1-3
Last week Brunson definitely sat behind KAT and didn't assert himself, but this week he stepped up to the plate and put up Curry'esque numbers. 39 points a game, 6 rebounds, 7 assists and a steal on 57/50/65 shooting splits and the Raptors leader has no stepped forward into the lime light. Will it be enough to pick off the undefeated Knicks leader?

Zach LaVine

PER 30.26

Eastern
1-3
LaVine was brought in for a LaVine like package last year and the Nets through the keys to him and said drive. This week he was at his NSL Hall of Fame best with 45 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists a game on 49/51/73 shooting and he even added a block and steal per game too. The only thing holding him back is the team record, but maybe that gets overlooked?

Donovan Clingan

PER 30.11

Eastern
2-2
The Hawks grabbed a couple of really good profiling big men in the draft last year and while Sarr had the hype and upside, Clingan was always going to be that rock solid guy that would always get numbers and anchor a team. This year, this week, 23 points, 17.5 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals and 2.5 blocks per game, and this is what he is going to do in this league for 15 years as long as he has a contract.

Andre Drummond

PER 28.17

Eastern
2-2
Big boy Drummond put on his big boy pants this week and decided to show the world he ain't done yet. 25 points a game, with 16 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 2 steals and 2.8 blocks. That's AD territory and he did it shooting 78% from the field also. Perhaps the best FA day steal ever and ever will be, and he's dominating this season already.

Kevin Durant

PER 37.50

Eastern

If there's one thing that KD will forever do in the NSL, it's score uncontrollably. This year, no exception. The man has put up 39 points a game this week lifting his season average to 38ppg now, with 5 rebounds and 4 assists, and a block and steal to boot. 62/52/89 splits and the Knicks go undefeated again. It's urely his award to lose this week?

Nikola Jokic

PER 26.99

Western
2-2
The Joker is back in force this year as the engine keeps developing to match what he can do in real life. 27 points, 12 rebounds, 7 assists, 3 steals and 1.5 blocks per game on 63/67/62 shooting with only 1 turnover and the big man is elite in every facet. He's even in the DPOY conversation with numbers like these, which is a little over the top. But, Wemby.

Mark Williams

PER 23.78

Western
4-1
Mark Williams was nearly moved for no apparent reason the other year but boy is LJ glad that didn't happen (I'd assume) as the big man has taken the league by storm this year. 23 points, 17 rebounds, 4.4 assists, 1.4 steals and 2 blocks per game this week gone and that is why the Mavs have had a super surprisingly successful start to the year. The big man can probably keep it up, too, as long as he's healthy!

Giannis Antetokounmpo

PER 34.76

Western
3-1
Giannis is as Giannis does and he's doing again this year with 35 points, 10.5 rebounds, 9 assists, a steal and 2.5 blocks a game. If this man ever developed a 3pt shot he'd have been the video game guy Wemby is, pre-Wemby. Luckily for the rest of the league, that 3pt shooting and poor FT shooting has always given even a glimmer of hope and is probably why he will struggle to beat Wemby for this award.

Victor Wembanyama

PER 36.98

Western

Wemby is an alien and the type of player you literally create as a kid in "Create Player" to be that boss video game player that dominates everything and everyone. And last week was no exception. 32 points, 18 rebounds, 4 assists, 3.5 steals and 4.5 blocks on 66/60/86 shooting and the man might just carry a team to the finals by himself at some point. What kind of statline is this, honestly?

32.3 PTS

Anthony Edwards

PER 32.35

Western
4-0
Edwards debuts on the year and goes right back to where he should be. 41 points a game with 5 rebounds and 6.5 assists, also a steal per game. The Thunder were great in week 1 and with Ant doing this type of thing now added to the mix, look out league. He might just have been a shoe in had it not been for Wemby.
