NSL Insider - Winners and Losersby Vitticus, updated on Tuesday, November 08 2022, 11:05 pm EST Winners - 99 Big Bids Bradley Beal Utah - 99 Jalen Brunson Milwaukee - 99 Andre Drummond Portland - 99 JaVale McGee San Antonio - 99 Dennis Smith San Antonio - 99 John Wall Chicago - 99 Montrezl Harrell Houston - 99 Otto Porter Minnesota - 99 Isaiah Hartenstein Toronto - 99 The obvious winner of the big dick bids is JasePitts (Utah) stealing Bradley Beal from Merencio. But after that, I would say the next big winner would be Daz stealing Brunson from Dallas. Now this was a pre-planned move, and I dont know if any assets were promised. But this was amazing footwork on Dazs part. Once you get into MLE guys, Drummond is the best 2k player available. Jmac is the winner of the MLE big bids. It doesnt feel like a big win because it was highly expected. Nobody was surprised by this move. This was Jmacs biggest bid last year and it was assumed that this would be his big bid this year. Everyone going to respect the champ and let him get his. Well except for Daz. Daz actually bidded 50 points in spite of the champs desires, but it ended up being a waste. However, you could argue that Nelsos big bids were even better. Because he landed 2 top targets: Dennis Smith and JaVale McGee. After throwing a big bid on Dennis Smith, Nels traded 3 future 2nds for 70 GM points so that he could throw another big bid on JaVale McGee. Neither of these guys are better than Drummond, but some could argue that the gap between Drummond and McGee isnt that far in 2k or wont be that far after the next tendency update. Winners - Risky High Bids that Werent 99 DeAndre Jordan Oklahoma - 75 Tyus Jones Oklahoma - 75 Robin Lopez Indiana - 74 Dorian Finney-Smith Boston 71 Bismack Biyombo New Orleans 40 Wizkid is the winner here for moderately high bids that werent 99 for his acquisition of Deandre Jordan. Most of us knew that there was no chance of us of winning Drummond or JaVale. So we turn our eyes to Montrezl Harrell, DeAndre Jordan, and Isaiah Hartenstein. Thats if were trying to land a big. Deandre Jordan is a guy you dont really want to bid 99 points on but feel like you kind of have to if you really need a big. I could read the temperature of the room and could tell people were scared. Especially through Rootseys live rambling that someone (possibly himself) would throw a 99 bid on Deandre. I personally bidded 34 points on DeAndre and then cancelled the bid because I got scared. So major props to Wizkid for sticking with his guns and not cancelling his bid and winning Deandre Jordan for 75 points. Id like to throw an honorable mention for Leeroy landing Bismack Biyombo. Because Biyombo is a serviceable big and was not on anybodys radar. He was returner to Phoenix in the NBA, so people just kind of assumed whoever had Biyombo would retain him. But the thing is no one owned him. Leeroy saw this and took advantage. Winners - Small Bid Winners Kyle Anderson Sacramento - 24 Gorgui Dieng Houston - 17 Thaddeus Young Houston - 17 JaMychal Green Houston 17 Goran Dragic Minnesota - 16 Bryn Forbes Toronto - 16 Taj Gibson Minnesota - 5 I feel like I (Houston) was the winner of the small bids for most of the night for my acquisitions of Gorgui Dieng, Thaddeus Young, and JaMychal Green for only 17 points each. But Klemm surprised everyone with his win on Kyle Anderson at the end of the night. Kyle Anderson is very deserving of a 99 bid. I actually thought that Klemm was going to bid 99 points to keep him, but I looked at Klemms GM points at the beginning of the night and he only had 69 points to begin with. So Kyle Anderson was fair game. People were scared of Leeroy. Leeroy still had a ton of points and people were expecting he would put 99 on Bruce Brown or Kyle Anderson since he had just traded for Wendell Carter Jr. I think thats why people were scared to bid 99 on either of these guys. And this worked out in Klemms favor. Winners Free Wins Bruce Brown - Memphis PJ Tucker Indiana Malik Monk - Chicago Blake Griffin Chicago Patty Mills Chicago Reggie Bullock - Oklahoma James Johnson San Antonio Damian Jones Sacramento Mike Muscala Los Angeles Lakers Bruno Fernando Golden State Derrick Jones Jr Golden State Damion Lee Orlando Taurean Prince - Atlanta Frank Kaminsky - Charlotte Facundo Campazzo Brooklyn Wesley Matthews Minnesota Markieff Morris Portland Jevon Carter - Toronto Memphis is the big winner here after obtaining Bruce Brown for free. As I noted in the above column, people were scared that Leeroy was going to put a 99 points on Bruce Brown or Kyle Anderson. So no one bidded points on Bruce Brown. Rootsey won by 1 point. Bruce Brown isnt really putting up amazing numbers in the NBA, but in 2k, he has better tendencies than 90% of the FA pool. Hes pretty much like Royce ONeale but with more offense and higher ratings. Not a Loss Retained Players These are retained players who already had loyalty. So retaining them wouldnt have been so tough. You kind of already know what you need to bid. I dont really consider these as wins. They are just neutral moves to keep your team looking the same as it was yesterday. Theres no winners here. James Harden Portland retained Zach LaVine Golden State retained Mitchell Robinson Memphis retained Jusuf Nurkic Brooklyn retained Bobby Portis Dallas retained Chris Boucher Charlotte retained Dewayne Dedmon San Antonio retained Kevon Looney Oklahoma retained Serge Ibaka Denver retained Jalen Smith Los Angeles Lakers retained Losers Bidded, but it didnt even matter Mitchell Robinson Los Angeles Lakers 20 and still loss Troy Brown Los Angeles Lakers 18 and still loss to a 0 bid Kevon Looney Los Angeles Lakers 25 and still loss to a 0 bid Justin (Lakers) is the loser here. He showed that you can bid 18 points on a player and still lose to 0 bids. He would have had to bid 24 points just to beat Klemms 0 bid on Troy Brown. But that is how life is when you have such a low win record. But he made some rookie mistakes too. Mitchell Robinson and Kevon Looney were both returners. This meant that they had 50 loyalty already to the previous owner. So you have to bid 50 additional points on top of what you are already bidding. It wouldnt have mattered with Mitchell Robinson though because Rootsey was already bidding 50 points on top of his 51 loyalty. I dont think Justin knew about this yet. Dont feel too bad though. I made rookie mistakes like this all the time my first 3 years. Losers Low Bids These are losses that could have been prevented if the GM had just bidded the amount of points a normal GM would have spent to retain a player. Bradley Beal Chicago loss - 10 Tyus Jones Brooklyn loss - 0 Injured Players Victor Oladipo (INJ) Washington retained 79 Thomas Bryant (INJ) Miami 60 TJ Warren (INJ) Chicago - 41 Dennis Schroder (INJ) New Orleans 40 Joe Ingles (INJ) Sacramento 15 Gary Payton II (INJ) Phoenix - 13 Danilo Gallinari (INJ) Los Angeles Lakers - FREE Delon Wright (INJ) Cleveland - FREE Ricky Rubio (INJ) Denver FREE Andre Iguodala (INJ) Milwaukee FREE Danny Green (INJ) Washington FREE We pondered how injuries would effect free agency, and looks like 4 of these guys actually got bids. I personally dont like holding these guys because when a player is injured for a long period of time, their ratings drop and 2k skips them when doing their yearly tendency update. Schroder is the only person here that I believe in. He already has good tendencies in 2k. He will probably get skipped in the tendency update and retain his current good tendencies. His ratings will drop but he will still look the same. |
