Seems like a solid trade. A very late 1st to upgrade to a better shooter that will be around longer term.

The lakers have had high value assets though and they have been given away basically, which is why everyone is asking the question. so i agree that your statement doesn't really make sense if thats the game plan. I got booted out of the other league for trading luke kornet for crying out loud haha

Disagreeing with something doesn't make it not true lol. PJ has some sort of plan and whether we agree with it or not it's still his plan. I was just looking to throw some broader context into the discussion. :) Have a great weekend!

Disagree with most of what Craig has said. Haha. Especially the high value asset part.

Rebuilding doesn't have to be exclusive to draft picks. The pick in question will probably fall between 25-30 and will likely not yield a player at the level Harris is now. Harris is currently a known quantity. You know exactly what you have with him so you can count on that he will be consistent at what he does on some level. He has a 4-year deal on a salary that in 2 years will be only slightly higher than what the MLE will be at that time. Harris' high-value skillset as one dimensional as it is and his salary stability will do 3 things: 1.) His shooting and offensive gravity in that regard will help create space so that whatever young players that are brought in won't always have to drive head-on into defensive walls taking bad shots which makes a rookie more efficient and more fun to have. 2.) With a solid 3 point shooting wing locked up for the next 4 years PJ can devote resources to filling other positions of need to help supplement his rebuild down the line. 3.) in 2 years he will be a high-value trade asset. Some contenders will gladly fork over additional young talent to shore up their shooting for a playoff run or possible future salary relief for an anticipated jump at FA. I don't know exactly what PJ's plan is per se. But that is how I would approach it.

Why is a rebuilding team trading a 1st rounder in a stacked draft for Kyle korver? Please explain The trade is awful and you cant be serious with what youve just said

Maybe Harris is his all time favourite player

I really don't see anything wrong with this trade. I see the complaints. But the issue here escapes me.

Oh no, a 34yo soon to be ufa in a new system where it's going to hard as fuck for a bad team to keep them and a pick ranged 25-30 for a guy locked in who is one of the best shooters in the league and that has value. Oh noooooooo. Seriously, think, before crying. It helps.

Cause a team that just sold off Westbrook and Tobias for picks and prospects is now using those assets to build around Joe Harris?

This is really a bad trade. Not because of the value but because of the misdirection of it. I agree with jesse, I think we need a gm buddy for newcomers and people outside the board to vote trades.

Are lakers still on probation ? Honest question. Theyve lost direction. The whole point of admin is to let guys run their team but step in if it lacks direction. I worry about the league when things like this happen. Its clearly a strange trade from a ghost ship gm that at least needs some explanation ?

Harris is a 2k pig. Green is better as a straight swap imo. Id rather old balls green on expiring than Joe Harris with a supposed ceiling.

Think Harris is worth more than pick 28, and didnt want to trade him.

Ben knows it's nice when he comments straight away to let us know that he was "forced" into such a deal ;)

I don't think Harris holds much weight in value in this league. If the plan is to flip him I think you gave up more already than you'll get back.
