Digeze 02/21/21 01:44 am | Seems like a solid trade. A very late 1st to upgrade to a better shooter that will be around longer term.
gc6 02/21/21 12:38 am | The lakers have had high value assets though and they have been given away basically, which is why everyone is asking the question. so i agree that your statement doesn't really make sense if thats the game plan. I got booted out of the other league for trading luke kornet for crying out loud haha
CraigB 02/20/21 12:52 pm | Disagreeing with something doesn't make it not true lol. PJ has some sort of plan and whether we agree with it or not it's still his plan. I was just looking to throw some broader context into the discussion. :) Have a great weekend!
Nels 02/20/21 12:21 pm | Disagree with most of what Craig has said. Haha. Especially the high value asset part.
Rootsey 02/20/21 11:59 am | Opinion
CraigB 02/20/21 11:44 am | Rebuilding doesn't have to be exclusive to draft picks. The pick in question will probably fall between 25-30 and will likely not yield a player at the level Harris is now. Harris is currently a known quantity. You know exactly what you have with him so you can count on that he will be consistent at what he does on some level. He has a 4-year deal on a salary that in 2 years will be only slightly higher than what the MLE will be at that time. Harris' high-value skillset as one dimensional as it is and his salary stability will do 3 things: 1.) His shooting and offensive gravity in that regard will help create space so that whatever young players that are brought in won't always have to drive head-on into defensive walls taking bad shots which makes a rookie more efficient and more fun to have. 2.) With a solid 3 point shooting wing locked up for the next 4 years PJ can devote resources to filling other positions of need to help supplement his rebuild down the line. 3.) in 2 years he will be a high-value trade asset. Some contenders will gladly fork over additional young talent to shore up their shooting for a playoff run or possible future salary relief for an anticipated jump at FA. I don't know exactly what PJ's plan is per se. But that is how I would approach it.
laddas 02/20/21 11:16 am | Wah
jessedunne 02/20/21 11:15 am | Joe Harris parents wish he was Kyle Korver
gc6 02/20/21 11:08 am | Why is a rebuilding team trading a 1st rounder in a stacked draft for Kyle korver? Please explain The trade is awful and you cant be serious with what youve just said
Toby 02/20/21 11:07 am | Maybe Harris is his all time favourite player
CraigB 02/20/21 06:07 am | I really don't see anything wrong with this trade. I see the complaints. But the issue here escapes me.
laddas 02/20/21 03:00 am | Oh no, a 34yo soon to be ufa in a new system where it's going to hard as fuck for a bad team to keep them and a pick ranged 25-30 for a guy locked in who is one of the best shooters in the league and that has value. Oh noooooooo. Seriously, think, before crying. It helps.
smokey 02/20/21 12:10 am | yawn!
gc6 02/19/21 11:50 pm | Cause a team that just sold off Westbrook and Tobias for picks and prospects is now using those assets to build around Joe Harris?
sheed36 02/19/21 10:25 pm | This is really a bad trade. Not because of the value but because of the misdirection of it. I agree with jesse, I think we need a gm buddy for newcomers and people outside the board to vote trades.
laddas 02/19/21 08:51 pm | I don't get what all the crying is about
jessedunne 02/19/21 12:27 pm | Are lakers still on probation ? Honest question. Theyve lost direction. The whole point of admin is to let guys run their team but step in if it lacks direction. I worry about the league when things like this happen. Its clearly a strange trade from a ghost ship gm that at least needs some explanation ?
Nels 02/19/21 11:09 am | Harris is a 2k pig. Green is better as a straight swap imo. Id rather old balls green on expiring than Joe Harris with a supposed ceiling.
Nenjabin 02/19/21 10:32 am | Think Harris is worth more than pick 28, and didnt want to trade him.
jmac 02/19/21 10:14 am | Ben knows it's nice when he comments straight away to let us know that he was "forced" into such a deal ;)
jmac 02/19/21 09:55 am | Klemm forgot he was on the burner account when he started the Harris talks :D
Joshua 02/19/21 09:42 am | Is there more going Lakers way or is this it?
Dylan 02/19/21 09:41 am | I don't think Harris holds much weight in value in this league. If the plan is to flip him I think you gave up more already than you'll get back.
KLEMMELO 02/19/21 08:58 am | Errrr... What?
jmac 02/19/21 08:54 am | Sell Val to buy Joe
Toby 02/19/21 08:52 am | Lakers WYD..?
gc6 02/19/21 08:49 am | I dont get this trade? Does joe Harris have a twin younger brother with the same name?
jessedunne 02/19/21 08:48 am | I dont get it
sheed36 02/19/21 06:35 am | Good point...
Nenjabin 02/19/21 06:20 am | Salary is a shit...next year I'd have been a further $15mil into the lux. |
