Detroit Pistons

Brunson leaving? I don't think so.

We're halfway through the season with plenty of challenges still to face. The Detroit Pistons are still disappointing their fans with a half-hearted campaign. Jalen Brunson has been criticized for not fully performing his capabilities as the team's offensive force. A big surprise is Zubac's development into a decent power forward with plenty of room for improvement. His ability to dominate in the paint has saved the team from a worse record.

The trades that have shaken up the team haven't had as much impact as they should and could end up leaving the team next season. Kuzma and Schroder seem to work much better coming off the bench, but with the injuries to LeVert and Miller they are being forced to start games. As a result, the trade deadline could be aimed at packaging players like Dennis Schroder and LeVert for possible assets for teams that are competing. Or the team could simply sit on these possibilities and let it play out.

The last few weeks have been rather busy for gm Sheed. Dividing his league time with real life has been a problem and collecting gm points has been an issue. Even answering trade proposals has been a bit of a chore. All the more so because the vast majority of offers for Brunson have been thin and one sided. The idea would be to take a small step backwards with a lesser player and an important piece for the future. But none of this has been offered and no idea has left the busy gm's head. Sometimes the best trade is just not to trade.

With the mood more convinced that Jalen has no market, at least for now Sheed is more content. The focus now is on winning and climbing the tables. A difficult task without dedication in the choice of defense and now even more difficult when their third best player is out. Miller is out for the season, Kuzma will need to step up and start working better offensively than he has done so far. Meanwhile, gm Sheed needs to dedicate himself a bit more in order to add more gm points and not lose his All Star in the next off-season.
