Introducing PJ Washington

Have you heard of a guy named PJ Washington? He slipped to pick 18 in the NSL draft.  In NBA, he was taken at 12, and allot of people called out the Hornets for wasting another pick.

When introduced to the public, the NBA Hornets GM suggested that PJ would be spending a large chunk of time in the Development league.

Washington did not play during Summer League because his coaches wanted to be cautious with a previous injury.

He’s a bit older and was productive at college, but he didn’t have the otherworldly ‘upside’ that other potential picks in that range possessed.

Fast forward to Pre-season and we get to see PJ Washington in action. He didn’t set the world on fire, he took the right shots, made the right moves and seemed like a Veteran from the start.

He ended up being the only player to score in double figures in ever game, not only did he impress, he opened opportunities which led to him starting.

Today in his first game, Hornets' PJ Washington sets the record for 3s made in career debut. Finishing with a line of 27 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal, whooting at 52% from the field and 63% from behind the arc.

What does PistolPK see in him?

In the draft, we had 4 guys on our list, and seem that list was distributed widely as everyone of them was taken before us at 18. At that point, we wanted the best player available and didn’t want to discount the Hornets scouting staff.

PJ is an undersized Power Forward in the NBA, they are even mentioning time at the Center, well he is an undersized PG in this NSL Heat team. Leading to the question, where does he fit?

PJ will get his chance, most likely at Small Forward, its hard to rate a player on 1 game in the NBA, but we excited. His range is very exciting, and he gets open looks through smart movement.

He uses is body well in the post and could be an exception defender. Welcome to the NSL young man.
