ROOKIE OF THE WEEK WATCH - Week 14

PLAYERTEAMWHYSTATS

Jamal Shead

PER 17.46

Eastern
0-4
Shead has been loving the uptick in minutes since the departure of all the other PGs in Brooklyn and 10 points, 2 rebounds and 3 assists is a really solid return in 16 bench minutes. He only shot 15% from deep, which will have to improve, and if it does, he's looking at closer to 15 points a game. He's been a rookie rock this year and has nice looking role playing future.

Donovan Clingan

PER 13.42

Eastern
2-2
Clingan continues to start and while his scoring was down this week at only 4.5 points a game, he still hauled in 11 rebounds, a steal and 2 blocks per game which is great from your defensive anchor big man. If he can start to hit the scoring side of things a little more, even just as a put back man, he's going to be come really valuable.

Alex Sarr

PER 12.68

Eastern
2-2
Sarr is back to starting in Atlanta and last week was a solid 10 points, 6 rebounds and a block but on poor 43/17/75 splits. He's got a nice looking future ahead of him as a defensive big man if nothing else, and as that shot develops (hopefully), maybe he starts spacing floors too which is a great tool to have in the arsenal. Will he still be PF eligible to play next to Clingan though?

Kel el Ware

PER 12.55

Eastern
3-1
Pete's new fav, Ware continues to start in Miami and put up some decent but not spectacular numbers. He looks like he could eventually be a great 2k big man with his size and fluidity, but 9 points and 8 rebounds with 1 block on pretty poor 41/24/70 splits in 33 minutes a game, puts him a fair way behind the 2k big man 8ball for now. He's got a good future ahead of him if he screws his head on properly.

Zaccharie Risacher

PER 27.14

Eastern
3-1
Zach hasn't really been all he could have been cracked up to be so far in his rookie year, but the kid in young and has the tools to be a really nice role player eventually. Last week he put up one of his best weeks of the year off the bench in only 15 minutes a game, scoring 13 points a game with 2 assists. It was on semi chucker efficiency, but it's a welcomed step in the right direction.

Zach Edey

PER 9.97

Western
0-4
Edey moved back to the bench last week in Memphis and his numbers plummeted because of it. Only 16 minutes played, but 2.5 points and 5 rebounds is well below what he was producing as a starter and actually fairly low for most 2k bench bigs. He won't be winning the award this week.

Alex Ducas

PER 10.20

Western
0-4
The Kings continue to get ROTW nominations...for their fill in wings forced to play C. Ducas has played a couple weeks for the Kings now, starting at C, and last week had a solid 10 points, 4 rebounds and a steal return on 70/55/86 splits. he would have got beaten up by big men, but he made the most of his opportunity.

Quinten Post

PER 15.03

Western
1-3
If you ask Daz, he made a huge mistake trading Quinten and it's hard to argue effectively otherwise for now as he's grown in role in the NBA and has gone from "no name draftee", to rotational big man. 9 points, 9 rebounds and a block as a starter last week for 30 minutes and that's a solid return from a "no name" big man. he also had 71/50/100 splits, which is fantastic!

Jackson Rowe

PER 6.21

Western
1-3
The Clippers are the latest team to need replacement Cs and Rowe has now suited up for 2 teams after trying the Suns earlier in the year. He's now signed with Detroit, but last week he was a modest 2.5 points, 2 rebounds and an assist in 14 minutes off the bench as a big man.

Dalton Knecht

PER 13.56

Western
1-3
The west is very sparce for rookies so Dalton Knecht got a nom this week while averaging only 5 points and 2 rebounds in 13 minutes off the bench. He's had an up and down rookie year, but at least he hasn't been attempted traded by his GM only to be sent back via a fallen through deal.

It’s funny I have both guys in the failed LAL/CHA NBA deal. They’re both mad at me. 🤣

Sarr won't be PF eligible next seaosn so he and clingan will split time but I believe that he'll be more of a 4 down the road, so I'm not concerned
