Paolo Banchero

PER 31.81

Last Season
PER 16.26

Western
20-62
Banchero got the 2k star bump this year after starting the season looking electrifying. He has definitely made the leap and will be a top 20 trade value guy for much of the future as he continues to be the face of the NBA Magic. Last season Paolo averaged an impressive 21 points with 8 rebounds in a pretty shallow NSL Clippers roster. In comparison, this season he has jumped to superstar levels of production, 31 points, 4 assists and all the defensive trimmings of 8 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game. He has arrived.

Derrick White

Derrick White is another player that has ascended to stardom in the past year. At the back end of last season, White showed off all-star potential and was selected to team USA ahead of his NBA teammate Jaylen Brown. He was traded from the NSL Blazers amongst all the hype and has looked outstanding since joining the NSL Heat. With an uptick of nearly 10ppg and an improvement in his defensive numbers, White could very well be the front-runner for most improved. 24 points per game could even see him end up in NSL All Star discussions. Worth more than a Zach Lavine package?

R.J. Barrett

Barrett has steadily improved throughout this season both in NSL and NBA. He's found himself in situations where he will get to be the busiest version of himself as a no.1 or 2 option in his respective team. Barrett has steadily improved his numbers ever season in the league and probably had his sharpest rise last season. However him improvement in scoring numbers from 20ish ppg to 23ppg and improvement in most key statistical areas will put him in the conversation once again this year.

Jaden Ivey

Another point guard making the list, this time a young stud who will probably make this list in the NBA equivalent with a clean bill of health. Ivey has been one of the shining lights in a season we haven't come to expect from Jmac and NSL Portland. His athletic play at point guard has been electrifying as he has does everything he can with the keys to the Trailblazers offence. He's added 10ppg to his scoring average from last season going from 13ppg to 23ppg and his assists, rebounds and 3pm have all risen steadily. If Ivey was healthy all season he would probably be the candidate to beat.

Desmond Bane

PER 26.45

Last Season
PER 13.87

Eastern
31-51
Bane has been on the most improved list in NBA and NSL a number of times in years past and he's gone from an up and coming player to a borderline star / elite role player. This means he's worthy of a Zach Lavine type package. In Atlanta, Bane has become the no.1 scoring option which has seen him jump from 18ppg to close to 25ppg this season. He is currently one of the top 30 scorers in the NSL whilst averaging only 30 minutes per game. A jump like that in less minutes per game is mightily impressive and he should be seriously considered for the award come the end of the season.

Dennis Schroder

A genuine journeyman of the NBA and NSL, Schroeder is of the perfect mould to benefit from this year's 2k. He's a scoring point guard. His role has grown whilst in Detroit and he has averaged close to 25 mins per game. He showed glimpses of the same numbers in multiple situations last season so it would be hard to imagine Schroder taking out the award, however his averages of around 15ppg and nearly 5 assists is impressive. He could very well be on the 6MOTY list in a few weeks time.

Malcolm Brogdon

What a funny name to see here, Brogdon has been an NBA and NSL journeyman throghout his career and has probably been on 5+ teams in both leagues. It feels like his career could've been more if he had a good run with health but he hasn't had a sustained run. In this engine, point guards are getting all the love and Brogdon's scoring ratings are perfect for this redition of 2k. He's averaging nearly 25 ppg for the Grizzlies after averaging only 15 ppg last season with the 76ers and seems to have found his NSL home for the time being. He's worthy of being on this list but it probably a beneficiary of the engine and his key role for Memphis.

Josh Giddey

Australia's very own Josh Giddey hits the most improved list after landing in a more opportunistic NBA and NSL situation. Giddey has all the hallmarks of a star NSL point guard boasting size, excellent vision and a crafty array of moves. He's been deserving of a badge update coming into this season and has increased his averages in a bigger role in NSL NY. His scoring numbers have improved to 23ppg, joined with nearly 5 rebounds and 3.3 assists. You get the feeling he will be leading this young Knicks team for years to come.

Bogdan Bogdanovic

Western

Another guard completes our list of the MIP, what does this say about this year's 2k? Well, Bogdan has always been a fun 2k guy and GM Klemm has absolutely milked the most out of him this season, playing him as a starter or 6th man depending on availability. His numbers have risen sharply from 14ish ppg last season to over 20ppg this year. He's improved across most statistical areas mincing opposition teams from all over the court. His run home will dictate whether he is to be taken seriously this season in the MIP but he is deserving of making the list for sure.

Vassell has gone from a crowded rotation in NY to the desolate island that is NSL Dallas and his averages have never looked better. Along with this, his ratings have been on the up and the NBA Spurs continue to ascend. He averaged 10 points with 3 rebounds and 3 assists last season but this year has jumped to nearly 20 points per game in 30 mins per contest. With a terrific spike in PPG Vassell will be in consideration for Most Improved at season's end.
