PLAYER OF THE WEEK WATCH - Week 10

PLAYERTEAMWHYSTATS

Kyrie Irving

PER 36.25

Eastern
1-3
Since landing in Orlando, Kyrie has blown up into the guy we knew he could be but needed the reins to be. 40 points a game last week, and he's been the not so silent heart breaker for a few teams hoping to get wins over a Magic team who has precious few of those themselves. Add in 3 rebounds and 4 assists and he's right up there this week, in line with his Orlando numbers on the year and pushing for recognition.

Kevin Durant

PER 37.41

KD actually had a "down" week last week compared to his season numbers but then he also played down on minutes too as the Raptors whom have figured it out finally, have been streaking and blowing teams out. 30 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 blocks...all in line with normal numbers, but in 4 minutes less per game!

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander

PER 33.93

Shai too had a down week compared to his season numbers and also played 3 minutes less, like KD. His plus minus was down also and the numbers simply don't speak to the same kind of wow factor that we have come to know from Shai these last couple of years. I think it's some one elses this week.

Lebron James

PER 36.88

Eastern
3-1
The Wizards and their future hall of famer continue on their merry way this year, even if the Cavs have overtaken them on the standings. This week Lebron put up a standard obscene statline of 40 points, 9.5 rebounds, 5.5 assists and a steal and 2 blocks. Yet, that was all right in line with his season numbers! That doesn't make the statline that much less impressive overall, but it's not an aberration, so maybe the hot week of Sexton will get more notice.

Collin Sexton

PER 45.57

Eastern

Where the hell did this come from? Sexton has been putting in work off the bench for the Bulls all year, but this week he went bananas. 27 minutes a game and erupted for 37 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and a steal per game on 57/48/91 splits. That's 20 points above his season average and way up across the board on season stats, too. In only 3 extra minutes a game. Bang!

James Harden

PER 43.29

Dejounte is gone, and James loves it. Averaging 33 on the season, he poured in 47 a game last week and is well and truly happy to be that #1 banana without needing to share the ball. His FT attempts were way up, and also his efficiency from the line at 98% and literally it was just getting that ball into his hands more that got him these extra numbers as he did everything else the same. But boy, this is going to fun down the stretch if he can keep this up.

Giannis Antetokounmpo

PER 42.47

Western
2-2
Giannis is as Giannis does. He was down 6 points on his season average this past week, but double up in blocks with 4.3 a game, 2 more rebounds and down in turnovers and fouls also. You need to put up an extraordinary line to be a Giannis winner of this award given it's his usual, but maybe this one is one of those.

Damian Lillard

PER 36.66

It's Dame time in Phoenix. The engine has gone away from sharing the workload and Dame loves it. 47 points a game this last week and he dropped 70 in one game. 5 boards and 5 assists and a whopping 2 minutes a game, up on his season 34 minutes. Dame is cooking and the Suns and loving it.

Nikola Jokic

PER 36.78

Western
3-1
Jokic just keeps being asked to do more by Vitt who can't comprehend that what we see here is what we see in the NBA. 25 points, 19 rebounds, 5 assists and 1.3 steals and 1.5 blocks this past week, all up on his season numbers and his efficiency was through the roof, too, shooting it 67% from deep and 68% from the field. The big man is feasting!

Anthony Edwards

PER 42.69

Western
3-1
Did somebody say Anthony Edwards break out? He's been feasting all year in the quiet town of Oklahoma City, but this past week he dropped 42 a game, which was up on the season by 5 points a game. He played 4 LESS minutes a game too, which makes that efficiency uncanny for the West leading Thunder! It's Edwards week baby!
