ROOKIE OF THE WEEK WATCH - Week 7

PLAYERTEAMWHYSTATS

Reed Sheppard

PER 25.94

Eastern
1-3
Reed Sheppard sighting! With injuries the Magic have had to change it up and Sheppard is in the rotation and playing well. In 20 minutes a night last week he dropped in 15 points a game with 3 rebounds and 3 assists, and nearly a block per game too utilising his size. His name has popped up on a few trade rumours, but the Magic likely love their kid.

Ajay Mitchell

The 76ers have unearthed a gem this year in Ajay Mitchell. Unfortunately, he might be done for the season from here, but this past week highlighted that you can lean on a rookie reserve PG in a pinch. 19 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists a game with 45/42/100 splits, so he did it in an efficient manner and in only 23 minutes a game off the bench!

Pelle Larsson

PER 13.16

Larsson moved into the starting line up last week to provide some shooting and off ball presence for the Hornets and it was a solid move. The rookie was super efficient shooting 67/44/63 splits and scoring 8 points a game with 2 rebounds, 3 assists and a steal in 24 minutes. It's not a star studded stat line but it's what the team needed.

Jaylen Wells

The Celtics love Wells, and by his NBA self, that looks like the right choice. In the NSL he's going to be much maligned for at least another 12-18 months though as 2k tries to catch up with a 2nd round pick and he was solid of the bench but just solid. 5 points, 3 rebounds and an assist and steal in 21 minutes, which probably won't get him the award this week. He was efficient with 62/50/67 splits though.

Yves Missi

With key guys missing last week, Cleveland were forced again to start their rookie big man in Missi and again he didn't disappoint holding down the fort in the middle. 9 points, 14 rebounds, 1.4 steals and 2.8 blocks a game from your rookie big man and that type of line looks like a JaVale McGee special. Missi is the new McGee? Not a bad thing to be for 2k and NSL.

Liam Robbins

You'd be forgiven for not knowing who Liam Robbins is...in fact you might be hard pressed to find someone that does know who he is outside of Andrew, but he was thrust in as a starter last week and dropped 11 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists and a steal on 61/40/43 shooting in 31 minutes a game. Of course this was due to injury, that he got his shot, but he did alright the unknown kid.

Ron Holland

Another Clippers rookie, Ron Holland is starting to pick up some steam as he played 23 minutes a night off the bench last week to put up 12 points, 4 rebounds and an assist a game. He was great from the field and line, but struggled from deep, on his way to definitely his best week of the year. Can we see more Ron as the time goes on or was it out of injury need only?

Kyshawn George

PER 10.64

Western
2-2
The Kings loved landing Kyshawn in the draft by he's shown little to start the year and so was out of the rotation largely. Last week he was pushed into the line up for 25 minutes a game. However, he still only managed 5 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists and nearly a block and steal a game, and shot it poorly at 37/36/50 splits. The kid has the need for more development before he's going to make an impact.

Dalton Knecht

PER 5.96

Western
3-1
After a much better week last week, Knecht went back into obscurity this week as he managed only 4 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists in 35 minutes a game, but then he did play his role in a winning Dallas squad. He shot terribly which is why the scoring dipped. 24/19/50 splits, and he will be better than that most weeks.

Zach Edey

PER 19.34

Western

Edey moved into the starting line up last week to try and fix the Grizz and was a really solid anchor for them, as you might expect with a big man like him. 10 points, 11 rebounds, 3 steals and 3 blocks per game is a huge result and if he can keep that type of stuff up he might just push for NSL rookie of the year!
