Evan Mobley continues to play at an ELITE level on both sides of the floor, and although he was very very good last year, the increase in his scoring and rebounding have placed him amongst the very best front court players in the league.
Another curious case. This year Naz Reids minutes are down, 3pt% is down, FT% is down, RPG are down, and only increased his scoring by .7. That said, the per 36 numbers are impressive: 21.8 PPG, 11 RPG, 3.6 APG
Gueye has been a revelation for Detroit this week, increasing his scoring output by 6.5 PPG and RPG by 2.9. He has also upped his FG% by 8% and nearly doubled his minutes and his blocks per game,
Having only played 27 games at the time of this writing, it's surprising to see Plumlee on this list. (This was also the case the first time I wrote one of these this season and he had played like 4 games or whatever. But the fact remains, the minutes per game are nearly identical this year to last year, but the veteran big man has a year over year 7ppg increase in his scoring. That seems noteworthy.
With great power comes great responsibility. With Jason Tatum's absence, Kuminga has been granted a larger role in the offense and thus far has not disappointed, increasing his PPG by 10 and nearly doubling his APG.
The Mormon Mamba has increased his scoring by 9ppg, his rebounding by 2.9rpg, and his FG% by 13%. Hard to justify saying a 2nd year player is "MIP" when ideally this is the normal trajectory a good young player should take, but it's impossible to argue with the numbers.
Iits a week of curiosities - Evbuomwan only played 18 games last year and averaged a whopping 1.9 PPG. This year his increased that scoring out put by 5x. Currently averaging 10ppg. The caveat here is that Tosan has only appeared in 8 games at the time of this writing.
Jaylin Williams (not the all star one) is only seeing about 3mpg more than he did last year, however, his scoring has increased by 5.2 PPG and his FG% by 15%. A promising first half of the season for the young big man.
Kyshawn has had quite the jump. Boston has needed guys to step up in Tatum's absence, and George has done so admirably. From 1.7 PPG last year with the Kings to 15.4 this year with the Celtics, and increasing his FG% by 18%.
VWJ is a good role player, but is he worthy of most improved? Numbers don't jump out at you, but he's nearly doubled his scoring and assists per game totals, and so far has played 3x as many games as he did last year.
