The big Spaniard has been a star in this league for over a decade. At 36 years of age, he's still got it, and is in All-Star form. Traded to the Pistons in the off-season, he looks hungrier than ever. In week two, he compiled averages of over 20 points and 16 rebounds, to go with a combined 3 steals/blocks, with just a minuscule 0.4 turnovers per game. That is an epic stat line, impact and efficiency. Pau is mad and he's taking it out on the league.
The Hawks won three of four, and The Flash top scored in three out of four games. The only team they lost to was Cleveland, but who hasn't? After changing his training regime in the off-season, Wade looks more spry and spritely this season. 48% FG to go with 92% FT. Das good.
Houston have the best looking team they have had in years, and Melo is the reason they are playing some really good ball. Management have given him the rock and told him to 'go get us a win'. He is playing a superb all-around game - 33 points, 9 rebounds, 4.3 assists. Houston are on the up and Melo is the man in H-Town - winners of 4 from 5.
PG13 is back with a vengeance this season, showing that he actually improved as a basketballer while he was out for the season. He can do it all, shoot, drive, handle, rebound, dish, steal, block. He had a stat-stuffing week and was also very efficient. He is the Wolves best player. He is playing power forward this season.
The man just loves to score. 11 free throw attempts per game!? Gonna have a lot of bruises! MVP candidate and threat to lead the league in scoring (again). Mercenio has built a team that just wants Derrick to shoot. While his numbers look more like shooting guard numbers at the moment, no one can deny the impact he has on the game, and for the Jazz.
Denver went 2-2 last week and aren't playing at the level that their Gm would want. Wall shot a blistering 61% from the field, which would be great for even the best big man. 24 points and 10 assists. On paper, all the Denver stars seem to be getting their numbers. Wall could league the league in assists.
Because I really like this guy. Teague is playing like an All-Star guard and he could possibly have the best guard statistics in the league. He literally does everything well. Memphis have shown some rigour and spark so far this season, under new gm Jesse Dunne. He performs well in every single area and if the new gm decides to re-tool and put his stamp on it, Teague will be at the heart of it. Putting up MVP numbers.
The giant in the middle for the almighty Cleveland Cavaliers. The dude's team is undefeated, he shoots at 79% (is that a typo?), eats rebounds like Eddy Curry ate - all you can eat. While some other players might have more statistics, Drummond combines mega-efficiency with huge in-game impact, and he's still getting better.
Russell Westbrook, the wrecking ball cyborg, was born to stat stuff. Three games, three wins, including an OT thriller against New York. If you combine his points, rebounds, assists, steals, blocks per game last week, you get a juicy total of 52. No matter which way you slice that, that is a truly epic line. He is a massive MVP candidate again this season. High turnovers are overrated, anyway...
DeMar had an awesome week on a personal note, hitting over 31 points a game with strong rebounds and a sprinkling of other statistics, too. The injured magic relied on him even more so in week two, but it was to no avail. Laddas is looking savvy with his DeRozan trade, as he is getting a heap out of him!
The Kings are rolling and are top of the tree in the West. Conley is hugely responsible for that, with his leadership, court awareness, defense and efficiency. While his statistics are great, they don't do justice to the impact he has for this team, and how great of a player he is. He always players under control and had an awesome week two - 53% FG, 20 and 7 and just 1.8 turnovers per game. Kings have been undefeated for weeks, making Conley a worthy candidate for POTW.
Harden has begun the season scoring at an absolutely torrid pace, and averaged 42 POINTS PER GAME in week two. 42 POINTS... PER GAME! He scored over a point a minute and averaged more steals than turnovers, which is insane for a player with such massive usage. Would be a very deserving winner of POTW honours, regardless of team record.
The Hawks won three of four games, only losing to the mighty Cleveland. Chris Paul is as hungry as ever for a title, and he is putting up a ridiculous line in week two - 26, 5.5, 3 steals, to go with 51% FG and 100% FT. CP3 is leading a team with other all-stars and is playing like an MVP.
