MVP WATCH - Week 3

Karl-Anthony Towns
PER 30.34MVP 33.14
Eastern 23-59
Keep

Them

KAT's rise from rookie to big man stud has been so sudden it's hard to believe he's only in his second season. Traded for an under performing Demarcus Cousin's it was questioned at the time, but its hard to argue against Badwolfs eye for talent. Kat has established himself as as a top big man in this league already and may actually prove to be a better winner than Boogie is already. 25/12/2.2 with ridiculous a 59%FG and a staggering 64%3FG is every bit of evidence you need to see why the youthful big man is an MVP candidate already.

Always
Dominant

AD Has finally broken out onto the NLL stage and boy oh boy what a way to introduce yourself. He has lead the western conference leading Spurs in scoring in every single game and puts up a dominant 31/11.5/2.4 on a nightly basis. Another facet hes added is an improved 3 point shot, shooting at a 46% clip on the season. Right now Davis is your MVP and in this writers opinion, it's by some distance.
DeMar DeRozan

Deadly
DeMar

DeMar implanted himself among the conversation of a legit MVP candidate last season.... and the Magic didn't even make the playoffs! Now we see him leading a team that looks well on track to a playoff appearance and has a new running buddy in Kevin Love. With the managerial change, DeMar struggled out of the gate but has seen his scoring tick upwards since the first week and seems to really be adopting the new style of GM Javi. I'm a big fan of this man's old school game and he was hard to leave behind... But i'm very happy to see him doing well!
Look after my boy Javi!

Jimmy
Buckets!

Bucket's has been solid for the Thunder. His numbers don't thrust him into the forefront of the voters minds, but his importance to the team on both sides of the ball is undeniable. Jimmy get's buckets and gets big buckets. If we had quarter by quarter stats i'm sure he would be one of the leaders in fourth quarter points. The Thunder have started to get things clicking after a few early struggles and an expected top 3 finish out West will only help JB's cause.
Brook Lopez
PER 17.12MVP 22.82
Eastern 47-35
Big
Lug

Well, Well, Well... BroLo is tearing it up in Minnesota. I think its easy to say GM Spudspace didn't quite expect his new big man to slot in and dominate right away. With PG13 picking up and ankle injury it was upto Lopez to carry the load... and that he did. 23.5/11.2/2.8 are great numbers right over. He's also putting to bed the myth about him being a useless rebounder for a 7 footer by pulling down over 11 a game. Lopez played for Minnesota earlier in his NLL career and it's clear to see he is happy to be back.
Stephen Curry

Stupid
Crazy (Good!)

Well hello Steph! Welcome to the NLL! GM Dazman must be grinning from ear to ear on a daily basis atm. His team is 9-5 and his star man and favorite player is having a great season. I mentioned before about KD being the most important player to any team.... Well here's his best competition. You take Chef out of the Bulls and it looks a little weary... But Steph makes this team go. It was well documented how much he struggled last season but the engine change and even some new personnel have seen him become a very efficient shooter/scorer and playmaker. Now his scoring is no higher than last year, but hes shooting 7% better from the field and a staggering 16% better from three! The Chef is in the kitchen NLL!
Kevin Durant
PER 35.23MVP 43.13
Eastern 65-17
King
D

KD, what else is there to say? The 2 time NLL MVP seems to be a perennial name on the list. Is there any player more important to their team other than KD? You take him out of the Celtics and suddenly you're not so sure they're a contender anymore. He was ridiculous is week 3, averaging 34/7/3.5/3/1 and shot 54/50/80 in leading the Celts to a 4-0 week. Jmac has gone a little quiet recently in regards to Durant, but we're sure he's still on the mind of many voters when selecting MVP.
Carmelo Anthony
Common
Assassin

Carmelo is a fourth quarter assassin, always seemingly able to raise his game when it matters the most. 1 half of the incredible duo in the countries capital, Melo doesn't disappoint. Many believed he would start to regress at this stage of his career but he's been right on the money, leading the Wizards to a good start to the season. In the offseason, GM Darko mentioned he could only get the scraps in free agency, Maybe with a guy like Melo, scraps is all you need?
Kyrie Irving
PER MVP
Western -
Killer
Instinct

Not many are as cold as this man in the clutch, he is a stone cold killer. One of my true regrets was trading this kid in a bid to win now, he has developed into one of the most well rounded scorers in the game. Does anyone still believe this is James Harden's team anymore? Early signs suggest Kyrie is the man of the big apple. His numbers say yes and even his manager has spoken the words previously.
DeMarcus Cousins
Dominant
Center

Boogie Cousins finds his way into the top 10 and his team isn't even sitting close to .500 atm, that is a testament to how damn good he has been. After his early 3 point barrage he has settled more and found his niche in the offense... which isn't hard when you are the main pillar of said offense. His efficiency betters the man just above him but his teams record is the let down here. His week 3 was super good with 30.5/12.8/2.8/1.3 53/80!!!/73, now albeit the 80% 3FG was only on 1.3 attempts, but hey impressive nonetheless!
